The B.C. Rich Statement
Bernardo Chavez Rico was an unlikely character to develop distinctive electric guitars. “Bernie” was an accomplished Flamenco acoustic player. From the early to mid 60s Bernie Rico exclusively constructed Flamenco guitars in Bernardo’s Guitar Shop in Los Angeles, California. Former executive Vice President Mal Stich remarks, “When you walked into Bernardo's the first thing you saw was wall to wall guitars hanging from the ceiling like birthday party balloons. There was a glass counter with strings, picks, guitar parts and accessories. Behind the counter was a window and you could watch the guys making guitars. But, the coolest thing was that there were always Flamenco and Classical players jamming. I remember the Flamenco players firing at each other with riff after riff. Bernie's father, Bernardo Mason Rico, was always sitting in his chair next to the Coca-Cola machine while friends and neighbors, even the postman, stood spellbound listening to the music.”

The Burny (Fernandes) Statement
Fernandes Guitars began in Japan in 1969 building Flamenco guitars. As the company flourished, it expanded production to include more acoustic guitars, electric guitars, basses, amplifiers and accessories to become the biggest guitar manufacturer in Japan.

In 1992, following the history of success in Asia, Fernandes USA opened its doors in Los Angeles, California and quickly established a presence in the American guitar market by offering quality instruments at affordable prices.

By 1996 the Fernandes USA Custom Shop expanded the scope with further development in guitar craftsmanship. With models like the Ravelle and Nomad, and with the Sustainer System technology, our Research and Development Department strived to find new ways to define the way the world plays guitar. Catering to everyone from the first-time buyer to the seasoned pro, Fernandes offers many options to meet their needs. An invaluable understanding of the guitar player fuels our strong commitment to the consumer and the quality they demand. In 1975, Hisatake Shibuya opened a shop called Electric Sound Products (ESP) in Tokyo. It provided custom replacement parts for guitars. In 1976, ESP gained a reputation as a provider of high-quality replacement parts. At this time, ESP also began crafting guitars under the ESP and Navigator brand in the Japanese market.

ESP found fame by providing guitars for guitarists who went on to become leading exponents of thrash metal music in the 1980s, along with Jackson Guitars, including Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth. As a result of these endorsements, ESP has gone to become one of the most popular suppliers of guitars for heavy metal music.

The Ibanez Statement
Ibanez has a rich heritage of producing high quality instruments that spans decades. Though the history is far reaching, the Ibanez impact on the music industry has not been solely due to the amount of time it has existed as a company. Each Ibanez instrument has demonstrated its value time and time again through its exceptional functionality and sheer versatility. The instruments have evolved to meet the new demands of musicians and push the limits of what is possible. For 2009, the envelope is being pushed again. The new lineup features a variety of guitars, including those with Maple fingerboards. These fingerboards provide a more sensitive touch to the way each instrument responds. There are different graphics that have been applied to various models to blur the lines between guitars as instruments or fashion statements. The Seagull Statement
In 1982 Robert Godin and a few friends produced the first Seagull guitars in the Village of LaPatrie, Quebec. The concept for the Seagull guitar was to take the essential components of the best hand-crafted guitars (such as solid tops and beautiful finishes) and build these features into guitars that could be priced within the reach of working musicians.

The process of creating each Simon & Patrick acoustic guitar all starts in the Eastern Townships, just a few hours outside of Montreal in the small village of LaPatrie Quebec, where building guitars isn’t just a job but a true passion. The luthiers who bring each Simon & Patrick guitar to life are not just guitar builders but they are also devoted artisans who have a love for their craft. Their enthusiasm for the guitar was engrained by a long lineage of guitar makers, who have passed on their knowledge to guide those in LaPatrie to become some of the finest luthiers in the business.
